The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017)

2/5
Reynolds and Jackson bicker their way through a so-so action plot; The Nice Guys did the buddy formula better, but the lead pair's chemistry just about carries it.

An expertly casted action movie which reminded of Ryan Gosling-Russell Crowe starrer Nice Guys.

This movie works mostly on the chemistry between the lead pair and the fact that the lead pair is polarly opposite Samuel L Jackson and the other Ryan makes the film more fun. Even though the story is just okay and Salma Hayek fails spectacularly, the male duo carry a lot of weight on their shoulders with the nonstop bickering. Jackson’s easy going attitude against Reynolds’ rulebook attitude bring out great comedic lift to an otherwise boring action film. I felt that the character backstories were just average and walked a tight rope of development with too much time dedicated to the bickering.

Let me be honest, Nice Guys was better than this, but this movie is better than a timepass watch as it engages you with consistent dialogue. Go in with no expectations though!
