T2 Trainspotting

Ok. As any decent movie buff, I am a fan of Trainspotting 1 and naturally was waiting to watch the sequel.

Before we go into the review, did you know that Trainspotting means looking at trains to observe their timetable, routes and other details? I thought it was a pretty irrelevant title until I realised that it is also an addictive passtime that actually adds no value to your life.

Anyway, this one actually quenches your nostalgic thirst. The characters return after 20 years to the small place they grew up only older and wiser. However, once they unite, it doesn’t take them long to face the ghosts of their pasts. Rentin played by Ewan McGregor actually gets away from the addict life but his life starts to fall apart. His wife divorces him and he is about to lose his job. His buddies are still stuck where they were 20 years ago. From there, he saves Spud, unites and partners up with Simon to start a new business, gets 100,000 pounds to start the business only to lose it.

All in all, the blokes spending 20 years in such a locality is a miracle hard to believe. But the film does well even without a great story. Watch it if you are nostalgic too.
