The Author
A lifelong TV obsessive with a lot of feels.
Hey! I am a huge movie buff! So I started Couch Critique to share my thoughts with you after watching something. I will update the site with the latest movie reviews and shows that I watch. If you are trying to find something to watch on your TV over the weekend, Couch Critique is where I park the reviews. No spoilers! Below are some shows, films, and the books I am passionate about.
The ride-or-die comfort shows
These are the ones I'll defend at any dinner party and rewatch when life gets loud: Supernatural, The Avengers (Cap and Thor, specifically), Lizzie McGuire, The Firm, 7th Heaven, Merlin, Castle, How I Met Your Mother, Scrubs, Outsourced, Sherlock Holmes (the Robert Downey Jr. movies count), The Simpsons, Death Note, Modern Family, White Collar, and Wizards of Waverly Place. And of course, movies. Always movies.
The deep TV catalog
I've also loved Elementary, Suits, Switched at Birth, Perfect Couples, Happy Endings, The New Normal, Teen Wolf, The Vampire Diaries, True Blood, The Newsroom, Da Vinci's Demons, The Tudors, Game of Thrones, Firefly, A Gifted Man, Under the Dome, Sense8, The Tomorrow People, Secrets and Lies, Mr. Robot, This Is Us, Scream Queens, The Flash, Pure Genius, Twin Peaks, Lucifer, American Horror Story: Hotel, The Last Man on Earth, How to Get Away with Murder, Damien, Grandfathered, Grey's Anatomy, Stranger Things, The Mentalist, Mozart in the Jungle, 12 Monkeys, and Six Feet Under.
Recent discoveries
More recently I've been swept up by Halt and Catch Fire, Fargo, Good Omens, Waco, The West Wing, Travelers, Wild Wild Country, True Detective, You, Riverdale, and The Bodyguard, Sex Education and Sense8
About the movies
I've watched tons of films and I genuinely want to write about all of them. I'm also honestly a little lazy about it — which is exactly why this site exists, to make me sit down and do it. Ask me for a movie recommendation and you won't be disappointed. Then check out the reviews — that's the whole reason the couch has a critic.
On the bookshelf
I also lover reading! Here are some good reads I enjoyed... The Hunger Games, Looking for Alaska, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Book Thief, 1984, Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl, The Fault in Our Stars, Harry Potter (obviously), To Kill a Mockingbird, Bossypants, Life of Pi, The Alchemist, The Lovely Bones, P.S. I Love You, or the Millennium series.
Authors on permanent rotation: Dan Brown, Agatha Christie, Sophie Kinsella, Robin Cook, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sidney Sheldon, David Baldacci, Cecelia Ahern, and Robert Ludlum.
Fun fact about me - my grand parents owned a theatre that my mother inherited. By the time the next generation came around, the theatre was closed due to losses! My mother would take me to a lot of movies since I was really young and that's where my intuition comes from!
